I ♥ Italian food

I whipped up this fusilli with puttanesca sauce for lunch with what I had on hand. If for some reason you're not handy at Italian*, here's the recipe:

Half a small canister of anchovies in olive oil (about three)
Two spoonfuls of drained capers (the spoon was somewhere between a tsp. and a tbs.)
Half a jar of tomato sauce
Lots of chopped garlic
A generous sprinkling of crushed red peppers
and a handful of fresh basil from my windowsill
(do not add salt, everything is already salted!)

Cook pasta according to directions. In the meantime, sautee garlic in some of the anchovy garlic oil. When garlic begins to brown, add tomato sauce, capers and crushed peppers. Cook covered on low until bubbling. Drain pasta. Combine both and add shredded basil, then devour!

(*"Italian" food was my favorite food growing up. I would always request it when we went out, even if that meant pizza and baked ziti. What I ate was far from real Italian food. But you have to give a Chinese girl a break- what did I know back then? I mean, what do I really know now except that I still LOVE Italian food?!)
