Bryggen, a UNESCO world heritage site, is a series of wooden buildings that date back to the 15th century though has been rebuilt through the years because of fires. It is one of the most charming parts of Bergen and easily accessible as it's just down the road from the fish market. The buildings are tightly packed, leaning and very crooked. It is filled with tourist groups esp. during the earlier part of the day and has a couple of shops selling Norwegian sweaters, jewelry, medieval costumes, and there's a lovely cafe decorated with mid century scandinavian furniture that we loved. They aso happen to have great hazlenut and chocolate chip cookies (cookies are a bit of a rarity in Norway). We walked through at least once a day completely smitten by it and by that coffee shop.

You both seem to be much MUCH happier and content when you come across edible things you enjoy - thank you, hazelnut and chocolate chip cookies, you made them smile! :)
