perhaps some Moroccan styled windows?

I have white roman blinds from Ikea. They look good but they are not practical. I have metal framed windows which makes screwing anything into them near impossible. The blinds sit above the window frame. The string for pulling the blinds up have broken on all three of my blinds. I'm not a rough person, I really am not! I need a new solution. I have curtains already but would like to maintain the blind idea. I've been thinking about window films as an option and today they posted about them at apartment therapy. These are pretty expensive at $76 a pop but they look pretty. I wonder though if I should get something plainer like my original blinds.
