Chinese Sundays

Hornet's Comb Rona Chang

I have discovered that all Chinese people wake up early on Sundays, at least the ones that use the pool. Sheesh! I had a 9am swim date with my friend Crystal. We shared a lane with four others- that's SIX to a lane, in case you needed help counting. Um, we've decided that in the future, we'll go later in the day, to avoid the aggressive splashers. One nice thing about Flushing early in the morning is that it's fairly empty. After our swim, we went to have fresh warm soymilk at the Flushing Mall. Yum!

ps- don't forget that it's election day!
pps- this weeks photos will be from my summer in Mass.

J. Bennett Fitts

While browsing through Julie Saul's site, I was reminded of J. Bennett Fitts. I saw a couple of his prints there a while back and loved them. The colors, the composition, the project, "No lifeguard on Duty". I hope he has another show in NY.

Olle Lundburg's house tour

Here's a NYtimes article from 2005 that apartment therapy featured today on architect Olle Lundburg's two homes while on the topic of escapes. The best photo was this one of the dog in the pool. I want one! The pool is made from an old water tower. It looks amazing and it's 14 ft. deep.

Swimming on a barge in the East River

For urbanites like myself who love swimming, there is an awesome floating pool in Brooklyn Heights this summer. I headed there Friday afternoon with two friends, enjoyed the the neighborhood, views, and the pool! There is a beach for lounging while you wait for your turn. Be sure to get there an hour (weekdays) or half hour (weekends) before the swim session to get the wristbands which let you in for free, capacity is limited and the slots fill up fast. Details here.
