LKV

Here's a look at my immediate surroundings. The LKV studio building is an old school house. There is path from Lademoen park to LKV. My apartment in on the top floor of the smaller building. It's hidden by the tree on the left (the large windows are part of a gymnasium for kids).

Landing in Trondheim, Norway

Landing amidst the greenery of Norway. Finding my apartment at LKV and my first grocery purchase. The airline happened to leave my luggage in Oslo but managed to deliver it around 10pm so I sat around waiting and worrying my first afternoon. I'm very grateful it wasn't more delayed or lost.

Heading North

Red Cabin II, Norway © Rona Chang

In the middle of last week, I received word that I got accepted for a residency at LKV, in Trondheim, Norway, that I applied for a year ago. It was quite unexpected, though great news. I traveled to the Arctic Circle in Norway in 2003 and have always wanted to return. This will be an amazing opportunity to work for an extended period on some of my ongoing projects while exploring new possibilities in Trondheim. Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway so it will be quite different from my previous trip.

My bosses were kind enough to let me have time off to go make work and they have been nothing short of encouraging. I'm one part super excited, one part nervous, and three parts busy scrambling to get it together before I leave in about two weeks. I haven't purchased tix yet, stalling because I'm trying to arrange a possible trip to Stockholm at the end.

So if you have Trondheim or Stockholm tips, I'm all ears...
