River Concert and Camping

My new Norwegian friend Hanne invited me to go camping with her last weekend so that we could go to the Kibneb-festivalen 2010. I of course jumped at the chance for some shooting opportunities and a change of scenery even though rain was predicted. Her friend Torbjørn picked me up, then we picked up Lena, and then Hanne and went on our merry way to Lensvik. We got there in about an hour and parked at a grassy pasture by the side of the road and walked in on a path along a river. The first performance was a jazz concert on the river. I was so excited walking along the path, seeing people crowded along makeshift benches, sitting on the rocks in the river, and gathered along the food stands. We ended up sitting right behind the band, on the same rock, so we were right in the action. There were lots of kids swimming in the river and it actually got so hot that I wished I wore shorts. This was by far the coolest concert I've ever been to.

After the concert, we found a spot to camp at the very back of a school yard. Technically not legal but we were having trouble finding any camping grounds and figured we wouldn't be bothering anyone back there. Hanne's brother, Hans Petter, lent us a cabin sized tent. You can see that the least experienced person is delegated to propping up the tent while others are hard at work. We managed to set up the tent and started grilling skewers for dinner. Have I mentioned that Norwegian eat dinner early? This was about 4- my stomach was considering this meal a late lunch.

Up next, the play.
