Teak Shelves

Geoff was super generous with me and gave me two teak shelves for my desk area. Ross oiled the wood and put them up with some Ikea brackets (I can't find my exact brackets on the site- they are white, plastic, and cost 50 cents each). I've long had a cluttered workspace, and am now working on having a clear work surface to the left of my iMac. Soon enough (it'll take some cleaning and styling), I'll post some pics of THE Apartment done.

Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend with Geoff at the house in Pond Eddy. It was a packed weekend and included hiking an old wagon trail, swimming at a local lake, lots of weeding, eating local strawberry & rhubarb pie and lots of food made with Geoff's garden greens including a super duper chimichurri sauce (recipe from the August 2010 Martha Stewart magazine), grilling, and an all around great time spent together. Thanks Geoff! I am so happy that my two favorite guys get along so well, I couldn't be luckier.

Solar cooking

This bizarre looking contraption is a solar cooking device cooking our whole chicken on the stone terrace. Geoff introduces something new to me all the time.



If you get plenty of sunlight you can buy a solar cooker here, a portion of the proceeds helps subsidize distribution of the solar cooker in developing countries.

Presentation

Geoff got uber creative making salad the other day. Organic greens with edible flowers from garden + organic french lentils.

We were supposed to catsit in Pond Eddy but then Geoff's plans changed and he decided to stay at home. R & I went up anyway and ended up lending a hand with getting the cottage ready so that it will be available for rental soon (our goal is July!)

We spent a good chunk of the weekend in Pond Eddy with Geoff. It was so nice to get out of the city (especially after 8 hours of struggling with the car on Friday). He made sure we had wonderful time and fed us well during our visit.

B: Chicken and apple sausage sauteed with onions, dandelion, and kale. Local egg over easy on top of a bed of spring onions along with a slice of multi-grain bread.


L: Homemade pizza with sauteed homegrown kale.


D: Coq au vin.

Goat Milk Ice Cream

G really loves goat milk. When I was at Whole Foods the other night, I was tempted to have something sweet. I picked up a pint of La Loo's Chocolate Goat Milk ice cream. A pint is alot, and my eyes are way bigger than my stomach and sweet tooth. It was perfectly rich and creamy, and you could definitely taste the goat milk, which I liked.



I ended up ordering a cup of coffee so I could dunk scoopfuls of ice cream in and finish it off. (Very brilliant idea because it's amazing this way!)

Home-made Tomato Sauce

Geoff gave me a jar of home-made tomato sauce last week and I immediately used it in a pasta. Flax penne pasta and jar of artichokes from TJ's, one fresh tomato with Geoff's sauce, amazing!

The Cats

I'm so glad that G made a project about the cats. Tokyo was such a good model.

Summer has come and almost gone. Tomorrow I will go up to the house to take care of the cats for G. Geoff is off to Canada today, I am totally jealous. Ardshona is a real treat.
