I want a broom for Christmas

Remember the broom and dustpan that I fawned over in Sweden? It's available here! MOMA has the Hans Edblad and Tove Adman designed Dustpan and Broom in red for $75 and DWR has the green one for $100, and the Irisgruppen site shows the full range of colors. Yes it's nuts to lust for something as utilitarian as a broom and dustpan and want it for Christmas as early as August but it is beautifully designed and I've tested it in the store. It's def. on my Christmas wish list!

Goodbye Sweden

Midsummer night, eating zucchini fritters on the back patio with a neighbor's cat. A nice way to end a visit to Stockholm. Thanks Lisa!

Downtown Stockholm II

We walked through Gamla Stan (Old Town), saw the maypole amidst all the charming shops. We stopped by the palace where the royal wedding took place and by Svenkst Tenn where I lusted over everything Josef Frank. At $350-400 a yard, I walked away empty handed but completely charmed. Art in the T-Bana, very different from our subways.

Downtown Stockholm I

Sights and sounds of Stockholm. Lunch with Lisa at a cafe. Stockholm Stadsmission, a second hand store that had lots of treasures. Lots of browsing. If I had a kid, I would have pined for this rocking kangaroo. Who am I kidding? I was pinning for it. In the end I really wanted this broom set. It's perfectly designed and so handsome. It was bigger than my suitcase though.

Little Northern Retreat to Vaxholm

Vaxholm is just 30 minutes north of where Lisa lives, so we headed up there and rented a mini cottage for the day. It was the tiniest space, and really should be submitted to Apartment Therapy. The sleeping space is really a crawl space but the owner made it a very cozy nook. The boys, especially Vilmer and Algot, enjoyed the cold water. The town was charming and filled with city folk day-tripping and vacationing. We relaxed and lounged around, then returned on the bus back to Lisa's apartment.

Lisa's Stockholm Apartment

My friend Lisa's apartment in Stockholm. View from dining area to living room. Kitchen plus sitting area. Her bedroom. The boys' (Edvin, Algot, and Vilmer) bedroom. Love her use of textiles and wallpaper. Algot and Edvin getting ice cream. Vilmer napping. Back terrace (isn't all that outdoor space glorious?). Trail near her apartment down to a view of the newly married princess' castle (The wedding was super grand and a national obsession in Sweden).
